S&P 500 Slips as ‘Violently Flat’ Market Chugs On

[ad_1]

The stock market stalled on Tuesday after a key services industry survey showed signs of stagflation.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 62 points, or 0.1%. The S&P 500 was down 0.5%. The Nasdaq Composite was down 0.7%.

Stocks traded sideways for much of the day, with the Dow moving in and out of positive territory before settling lower. Market breadth was bad, as only a few sectors like real estate and materials rose.
