Christian Werner’s Prado sofa for Ligne Roset blends effortless comfort with adaptable functionality, designed to suit both lounging and casual entertaining. Originally launched in 2014, Prado features a low-profile seat and weighted, repositionable cushions in place of a fixed backrest—allowing users to sit, sprawl, or stretch out freely. Werner was inspired by his own home studio lifestyle, envisioning a space to unwind with wine and music, where cushions could double as floor seating or transform the sofa into a guest bed thanks to mattress-style ticking on the underside.
Ligne Roset explains, “Typically the design process surrounding a new sofa is heavily focused on aesthetic research. Prado represents a departure from this school of thought completely. Prado has first and foremost been designed based on the study of lifestyles and human nature.” With no fixed attachment points and a discreet anti-slip base, the design prioritizes freedom, modularity, and relaxed, human-centric living.
