Am I eligible for the bonus?
If you’re thinking about snagging the Chase Sapphire Reserve’s newest elevated welcome bonus, now’s a great time.
Cardholders can earn 125,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Chase Ultimate Rewards® are typically valued at approximately two cents each for travel, making the 125,000 points worth about $2,500 in travel.
While the card’s previous bonus came with a $500 travel credit, it was only worth 100,000 points. With a higher number of points, this deal is more flexible than the previous bonus, but you don’t get the travel credit.
Chase made some tweaks to their eligibility rules when they overhauled the Sapphire Reserve, but it still abides by the 5/24 rule; you’ll want to be careful about how many cards you’ve opened recently for your best chance at approval.
CNBC Select confirmed with a Chase spokesperson, Chase has shifted to a one-time rule for receiving bonuses for the same Sapphire product, so if you’ve already earned a Chase Sapphire Reserve bonus, you’ll no longer be eligible for future ones.
Pro tip: You can pair this card with a Chase bank account

Key benefits
The Chase Sapphire Reserve has perks worth more than $2,700 each year. Here are a few of our favorites:
- $300 annual travel credit: This remains one of the most flexible travel credits because the credit is automatically applied as a statement credit for qualifying travel purchases.
- Lounge access: Get access to over 1,300 airport lounges with a free Priority Pass Membership, plus any Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club with up to two complimentary guests.
- Apple TV+ and Apple Music subscriptions: A great perk for audiophiles and entertainment lovers alike, with access to exclusive Apple original shows, and valued at $250 a year.
- $300 dining credit: Similar to the travel credit, this will be automatically applied to eligible purchases, but is split into two $150 chunks, one available from January 1 through June 30, the second from July 1 through December 31.
- Travel protections: The Sapphire Reserve card comes with auto rental coverage, lost luggage reimbursement, trip cancellation and interruption insurance and more.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve has a fair amount of the card’s annual value tied to statement credits, so it’s important you periodically check your usage of these. The exact value of other benefits, like lounge access or the complimentary IHG Status, will vary depending on how often you use them.
Spending Chase Ultimate Rewards® points
The Chase Sapphire Reserve card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which are among the most valuable credit card rewards. You can use them for simple redemptions, like statement credits or gift cards, but the best value often comes from transferring points to one of Chase’s 14 travel partners. Many of the travel sites use dynamic pricing, so the exact value might vary depending on demand and other factors, but here are a few examples of what 125,000 Ultimate Rewards points can get you:
- A round-trip business class award flight from 12 North American cities to Dublin with Aer Lingus
- A round-trip business class award flight from the U.S. to London with Virgin Atlantic
- Five off-peak nights at the Andaz 5th Avenue in New York, a Hyatt hotel in the middle of Manhattan
If you’re not finding the exact travel plans you were hoping for through the transfer partners, you can instead book through Chase’s Travel portal and get up to two cents per point for select redemptions with Points Boost.
Final thoughts
This 125,000-point Sapphire Reserve bonus is a great opportunity to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points in bulk, useful for booking travel either with transfer partners or through Chase’s travel portal. The card comes loaded with statement credits, from travel to dining credits, which generate a lot of the card’s value if fully utilized.
