Uddhav seeks INDIA bloc meet before polls, says alliance not convened since LS results

Uddhav Thackeray on Monday called for an INDIA bloc meet in the light of the upcoming Bihar assembly and the Maharashtra civic polls. Thackeray reiterated that all future elections should be held on paper ballots instead of electronic voting machines (EVMs).

“The INDIA bloc has not met since the Lok Sabha poll results. I want this (meeting) to happen as soon as possible. The Bihar assembly elections are due and elections to other states are also going to happen and in our state we have the civic polls. We need to hold a meeting,” Uddhav Thackeray, who heads his own faction of the Sena said.

This is not the first time that Uddhav or his party has been calling for an INDIA bloc meet. UBT Sena leaders, including Uddhav, have been critical of the Congress for not taking the initiative and calling for a meet of all Opposition parties since LS polls.

Thackeray also called for all future elections to be held on ballot papers instead of EVMs. “All elections should be held on ballot paper only. If I am not wrong, the US President’s election as well as the election in United Kingdom are all held on ballot paper, then why not in our country?”
