trump golf expenses: $600,000 for portable toilets and golf carts? Secret Service’s six-figure bill for Trump’s country club


The Secret Service has earmarked more than $600,000 to rent golf carts and portable toilets at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster through the middle of next year, reports The Independent. Taxpayers will reportedly be footing a staggering $600,000 bill for Secret Service agents. Taxpayers, as usual, will have to bear the brunt of this cost.

The agreement between the Secret Service and Associates Golf Car Service of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Restroom Resources LLC of Wrightstown was inked on June 3, the outlet reported. The Secret Service will reportedly shell out $80,385 for those with the contract running through May 31, 2026. The Independent said there is a “three-year renewal option, for a potential of $333,801.” The site reported that the golf cart rental runs through June 2, 2026, and is “worth a potential of $550,930.”

“The U.S. Secret Service has contracts in place for portable restrooms and golf cart rentals to support the protective operations in Bedminster, New Jersey,” the Secret Service told The Independent. “The golf carts are used by personnel in club facilities; however, additional restrooms are needed to support the number of personnel onsite. These rentals also allow for restroom access in additional locations on club property and when club facilities are closed such as after business hours.”

How much has Trump spent on golfing?

Trump has spent an estimated $53,200,000 golfing and has been on the links 38 of out the first 163 days of his second term, according to DidTrumpGolfToday.com. While Trump mostly golfs at his properties, the American taxpayer still foots the bill.


While Trump golfs, Secret Service agents usually ride in golf carts positioned several holes ahead of and behind the president for security reasons, the news agency said. Agents were rumored to be banned from using the restrooms at the sprawling Washington DC mansion Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner rented during the first Trump administration.The initiation fee to join Trump’s club in Bedminster sits at about $100,000, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Secret Service allocated $95,250 to rent golf carts from Associates Golf Car Service in 2019 for use at the golf course between May 6 and October 31, the report said.ALSO READ: Elon Musk to be deported? It was unclear if the new rate is because of a larger fleet of golf carts for the Secret Service or if prices have increased exponentially since that time, the Independent said.

In May 2021, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security awarded a $34,140 contract to Imperial Restrooms of Saugerties, New York, for bathroom trailers for use at the club, according to federal records. That contract ran through Sept. 30, 2021.

Bedminster is one of the three private courses Trump owns in New Jersey. The other two are Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck and Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia in Pine Hill. The club was recently cited for 18 health violations and corrected many after initially being given a “conditionally satisfactory” C grade.
