Jordan Russell was sworn in recently for his third appointment as Commissioner of the Oklahoma Workers‘ Compensation Commission (OWCC) and as Chair of the Commission.
Russell is the longest-serving Commissioner, being first appointed by former Governor Mary Fallin in 2016.
Governor Kevin Stitt reappointed Russell to a full 6-year term in 2019, designated him as Chair of the Commission in 2021, and recently appointed him to another full term ending in 2031. The Oklahoma State Senate unanimously confirmed Russell’s appointment on May 20, 2025.
Russell serves alongside Commissioner Megan Tilly and Commissioner Scott Biggs, both appointees of Governor Stitt. Russell is recognized as a national leader in the workers‘ compensation industry, serving as president-elect of the Southern Association of Workers‘ Compensation Administrators and as a committee member of the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions.
Russell was recently recognized by the State Chamber of Oklahoma with the 2025 Excellence in Public Service award.
“I am deeply honored by the Governor’s faith in me to continue leading Oklahoma‘s workers‘ compensation system,” said Chairman Russell. “We have a great team at the Commission who always puts the urgency of Oklahoma‘s workers and businesses first, ensuring disputes are addressed timely and that the law is strictly and fairly implemented.”
Russell holds a degree in Agricultural Economics from Oklahoma State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law
