Reliance Retail claims market leadership across channels

Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Reliance Industries, which has an omnichannel focus, has claimed market leadership outpacing competition across channels.

Reliance Retail reported an 11% increase in its gross revenue to Rs 84,171 crore in the June quarter of the financial year 2025-26, up from Rs 75,615 crore in the previous year. Its net revenue also rose 11% to Rs 73,720 crore in Q1 FY26 from Rs 66,260 crore reported in the year-ago period.

While the company has noted that all segments performed well, the performance of the grocery and fashion segments helped it gain market leadership.

A graph shared by the company showed that Reliance Retail has outperformed its competitors in different segments, which operate on different channels based on the FY2025 (adjusted) gross revenue data as per its calculations.

Reliance Retail saw a 16% year-on-year (YoY) increase in the number of transactions to 389 million in Q1 FY26. Further, it opened 388 new stores, bringing the total number of stores to 19,592 across the country.

Meanwhile, sales of consumer electronics and devices were impacted due to the early onset of monsoons, according to the company’s results presentation.

Quick commerce wave

Reliance Retail’s quick commerce arm JioMart reported its daily orders grew 68% on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis and 175% YoY, as the demand for quick commerce grows.

The platforms noted that it is currently operating across 4,290 pin codes serviced by over 2,200 stores in over 1,000 cities, compared to its competitors, which are largely focussing on metro and tier-1 cities.

Meanwhile, according to a BofA Global Research report, Reliance’s JioMart is unlikely to emerge as one of the top two players in the segment due to its current 30-minute delivery model.

Unlike rivals Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy’s Instamart, which rely on a dense network of dark stores for 10-minute delivery, JioMart fulfils orders from existing offline retail locations and has not invested in dedicated micro-warehouses.
