Park Library Museums : Taichung Green Museumbrary

Taichung Green Museumbrary by SANAA is a 58,000 m² cultural landmark on the edge of Taichung’s Central Park, opening December 2025. Designed by Pritzker-winning architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa in collaboration with Ricky Liu & Associates, it merges eight low-rise glass volumes wrapped in a luminous mesh façade that appears to float amid greenery.

The design promotes transparency and public engagement with shaded plazas, multiple entrances, and a rooftop “Cultural Forest” that further integrates the building into its parkland setting. Spanning both the Taichung Public Library and the Taichung Art Museum, the complex supports over one million physical and digital volumes alongside 40,000 ft² of gallery space.

Its dual-layer façade diffuses light while reducing solar heat, embodying a “library in a park, museum in a forest” philosophy. As SANAA explains, the building “connects learning and communication for people,” blending art, literature, and nature into a cohesive, multifaceted civic hub
