No investor will leave Karnataka for want of land, says industries minister MB Patil

Karnataka has enough land to offer to investors, said the state industries minister, MB Patil, after Andhra Pradesh IT & electronics minister Nara Lokesh wooed investors to his state on learning about the government’s decision to drop land acquisition for an aerospace park near Bengaluru.

Lokesh, in a post on X, said he was sorry to hear about the land issues while urging aerospace investors to look at Andhra Pradesh. “We have an attractive aerospace policy for you, with best-in-class incentives and over 8000 acres of ready-to-use land (just outside Bengaluru)! Hope to see you soon to talk across the table.”

Patil responded to the post, saying his state doesn’t just offer land but also India’s No. 1 aerospace & defence ecosystem. “We’ve built the country’s strongest aerospace base over the decades, contributing 65% of India’s aerospace output and ranking No. 1 nationally, 3rd globally. It isn’t about land alone—it’s about talent, innovation, and a proven ecosystem.”

Patil added his state knows what to do, when to do, and how to do it. “Nothing is slipping off. Karnataka will be one of the first states to reach a $1 trillion economy. And it’s not just aerospace; many new industries continue to choose Karnataka, and existing ones keep expanding here. We’ll always ensure the land and ecosystem needed to support both growth and new investments.”

Patil wished the best for Andhra Pradesh as well.

In a prepared statement, Patil said Karnataka has sufficient land not only for aerospace and defence, but also for artificial intelligence (AI), deep tech, IT, and other industries. “We will not let even a single industrialist leave the state due to non-availability of land…To facilitate industries, we go beyond land allocation. We also ensure water, power, and other essential infrastructure. We have already prepared an integrated plan worth ₹3,600 crore to guarantee water supply to industrial areas across the state,” he said.
