After Donald Trump Jr and Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump’s second son Eric Trump said he would be open to entering politics as he feels the political path would be an easy path for him. “The real question is: ‘Do you want to drag other members of your family into it?’” the 41-year-old businessman, who has always been seen as less interested in politics and more inclined toward business, said in an interview with the Financial Times. “Would I want my kids to live the same experience over the last decade that I’ve lived? You know, if the answer was yes, I think the political path would be an easy one, meaning, I think I could do it,” he added. “And by the way, I think other members of our family could do it too.”Eric’s sister Ivanka was Donald Trump’s aide during his first term in the White House. His older brother Donald Trump Jr is also an out-and-out businessman but, as a MAGA podcaster, aligns closely with politics. Eric’s wife Lara was the co-chair of the Republican National Committee last year. Eric Trump considers himself as “wholly unimpressed by half the politicians” he sees. “I could do it very effectively,” he said.
A Trump family member in 2028?
Vice President JD Vance is the top choice for a 2028 election, closely followed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Eric Trump did not dismiss the possibility of a Trump family member throwing the hat in the ring. “Who knows?…Time will tell. But there’s more people than just me,” he said. “The question is, do you want to do it? And do you want to subject the people that you love to the brutality of this system? And I’m not sure if I can answer that question yet,” he said.
If there’s one family that hasn’t profited off politics…
Eric Trump said if there is one family that hasn’t profited off politics, it’s the Trump family. “In fact, I would sit there and say that we [would have] had many more zeros behind our name had my father not run in the first place. The opportunity cost, the legal cost, the toll it’s taken on our family has been astronomical.”
