NEW DELHI: The Union government on Monday notified the appointment of chief justices of five high courts – Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gauhati, Patna and Jharkhand – while transferring the chief justices of four others.Acting chief justice of MP high court Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva has been appointed as the chief justice of the same high court; Justice Vibhu Bakhru, a judge of Delhi high court, has been made the chief justice of Karnataka high court; Justice Ashutosh Kumar, acting chief justice of Patna high court, has been appointed as chief justice of Gauhati high court; Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi, judge of Patna high court, has been appointed as chief justice of the same high court; and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, judge of Himachal Pradesh high court, as chief justice of Jharkhand high court.The chief justices who have been transferred to other high courts are Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, shifted from Rajasthan high court to Madras high court; Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, from Tripura high court to Telangana high court; Justice M S Ramachandra Rao, from Jharkhand high court to Tripura high court; and Justice K R Shriram, from Madras high court to Rajasthan high court.The transfers are based on the recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium on May 26.
