General Motors Insurance announced this week it has expanded to three more states: Arkansas, Colorado and Louisiana.
General Motors Insurance is available for Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and/or Cadillac vehicles with a model year 2016 or newer.
GM says that the product can save drivers money with its in-vehicle technology, accident forgiveness and deductible waiver. Connected vehicle data provides information about driving behavior and mechanical operation of the vehicle, according to General Motors Insurance’s website. This information includes driving time of day and duration, miles driven, speed, change in speed and seat belt usage.
General Motors Insurance is available in 17 states altogether.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry celebrated General Motors Insurance’s entry into the state, connecting the program’s launch with the lawmakers’ tort reform efforts in the recent legislative session.
“General Motors Insurance coming to Louisiana is a testament to the work we accomplished this legislative session to bring about real insurance reform,” said Landry in a statement. “Louisiana families deserve more options in this mandated market, and we are incredibly proud to welcome GM to our state. I am confident this is just the beginning of a more consumer friendly insurance market.”
General Motors Insurance offers traditional auto insurance coverage for earlier GM models and other vehicle brands.
