Delhi weather: National capital to witness light rains on Monday


Delhi is likely to see cloudy skies with light rain on Monday. According to the the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is expected to settle around 35 degrees Celsius in, while the minimum is likely to be around 26 degrees Celsius. There has been no colour-coded alert for the day.

On Sunday, the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius, which was 0.7 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 25.2 degrees Celsius, 1.1 degrees below the normal. However, humidity ranging from 59% to 87%, pushed the Heat Index or “feel like” temperature to 43.3 degrees Celsius.

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed that Delhi’s air quality was in the ‘satisfactory’ category at 4 PM on Sunday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 75.

Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in six districts of Uttarakhand on Monday. According to the Uttarakhand State Emergency Operations Centre, the weather department has predicted lightning accompanied by strong winds in some areas of Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar.

Further, all schools and Anganwadis in Dehradun have been ordered to remain closed on Monday due to the Orange alert.
