A shocking incident of food contamination has come to light from the Srisailam Devasthanam temple in Andhra Pradesh, when a devotee reportedly discovered a cockroach inside a laddoo prasad.A devotee named Saraschandra K on Sunday June 29 found a dead cockroach in Laddu Prasadam. He complained to the temple EO Srinivas about the negligence of temple staff.However, temple authorities denied the claims and said that the laddoos are prepared in a clean and hygienic environment under strict supervision. In response to the incident, temple authorities maintained that the laddoos are prepared in a “clean and hygienic environment” under strict supervision. Executive Officer Srinivasarao stated there is “no chance of any insect, including a cockroach, entering the laddoo during preparation.” Urging devotees not to panic over the viral video, he assured that prasad is handled with utmost care. He further added that they are reviewing CCTV footage to verify the authenticity of the claim and to check whether any misinformation is being intentionally circulated.Despite the denial of contamination during production, the temple administration has reportedly begun a review of the distribution process and is checking all preparation and packaging areas as a precautionary measure.This incident has brought attention to the need for robust cleanliness protocols at religious institutions, especially in offerings that are consumed by thousands of devotees.
