Samsung and Coolblue Energie announced a partnership to offer Dutch households free electricity for doing their laundry between select hours of the day with eligible Samsung washing machines compatible with the SmartThings platform. During the specified time of day when people can do their washing for free, customers won’t be charged any electricity tariff, VAT, or energy tax on their appliance’s power consumption. This is because there’s generally an excess of solar and wind energy, and this strategic initiative helps to reduce the load on the power grid during peak hours.
Households in the Netherlands with a compatible Samsung washing machine only need to connect their machine to My Coolblue via the SmartThings app to select the “free washing” option.
