HDI Global Canada Appoints Reedie as Head of Engineering and Construction
Derek Reedie has been appointed head of Engineering and Construction for HDI Global SE’s Canadian Branch, effective on June 30.
With more than 25 years of industry experience from general property/casualty to construction and contraction specialization, Reedie has been responsible for the establishment and growth of numerous portfolios across multiple lines of business, while also acquiring specialized knowledge in all aspects of insurance tailored to contractors, specialist trades and project owners.
He also has expertise in complex and large placements which positions the division to continue its promise of flexible, solution-oriented service in the engineering and construction space.
Previously, Reedie has held key roles in the construction insurance sector at Ecclesiastical Insurance, Zurich Insurance Co., QBE Insurance and XL Catlin (now part of AXA), according to his LinkedIn profile.
“As we tackle the infrastructure deficit and embrace the transition to cleaner energy sources, HDI is poised to play a transformative role in shaping a resilient, forward-looking Canadian economy,” Reedie said.

QBE Promotes Connolly as European Property Product Manager
Commercial insurer QBE has appointed Anna Connolly as European Property Product Manager.
Connolly most recently served as portfolio manager for London Market – Property at QBE, with a focus on providing solutions for a diverse portfolio of large corporate and multinational clients.
Connolly has a long-standing career with QBE, where she joined as a geographical risk analyst, before progressing to property portfolio manager in London.
From October 1, Connolly will join the European Operations (EO) team. Still based in London, she will report to Naintara Agarwal, QBE EO’s director of Underwriting and Portfolio Management.
“I am thrilled to have Anna on the team. Anna brings valuable experience from UK to European operations and will be key in positioning us in the major risk segments, and enhancing our primary lead positions in Europe,” Agarwal said.
