Shares of IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 0.58 per cent) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.51 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Axis Bank Ltd.(down 5.22 per cent), HDFC Bank Ltd.(down 1.49 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 1.4 per cent), Canara Bank(down 0.94 per cent) and Bank of Baroda(down 0.74 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Bank index closed 0.96 per cent down at 56283.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 143.05 points at 24968.4, while the BSE Sensex stood down 501.51 points at 81757.73.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 ended in the green, while 35 closed in the red. Shares of Vodafone Idea, JP Power, RattanIndia Power, NMDC and LE Travenues Techno were among the most traded shares on the NSE. Shares of Guj Mineral Dev., Garuda Construction, Cupid Ltd, Denta Water and Infr and Jubilant Agri & Cons hit their fresh 52-week highs in today’s trade, while Shriram EPC(PP), HDB Financial Servic, BDR Buildcon, IndInfravit Trust and Aditya Birla Lifesty hit their fresh 52-week lows.
